Ch. 6 The beginning of the apocalypse

My first view of the city was a real shocker as there is nothing, well almost nothing left of it. All there is to see is total and complete devastation. A few people here and there and from them I pick up what happened and I am truly horrified. Apparently while I was having my graduation party the ultimate final game in the seasons series was taking place at the superbowl. It was such a riveting game that nobody wanted to miss any of the action by taking time out for a bathroom break and the results of this were that so many toilets were flushed and so many taps were used that the water pressure dropped too far for the 3 local power plants to handle and all of them went into meltdown causing massive chain reactions which resulted in explosions all through out the power grids in the city. Needless to say it caused this devastation I can now see. I walked around for a while till I stumbled across this man that resembled the town mayor whom I talked to for a while and he told me about how they need someone to lead the way in the recovery. I asked him for more information and he said that everyone who survived was just to demoralised to attempt any type of rebuilding. He also explained that there were so many things wrong that it would take more than one or even 2 generations to fix everything so the person who was willing to take on the task would need to have a lot of moral fiber (personally I think it would take more than that but who am I to say?) The more he explained the more I felt that I would be able to help and that it was everyone's duty to do whatever they could to assist in the recovery and rebuilding efforts. I just hope I know what am getting into.

This is the block of land the mayor allocated me. Seems that the family who lived here had only one survivor who deeded what was left of the property he owned over to the mayor and took off for parts unknown.
I know I wasn't sure what to expect but I certainly expected at least some sort of building to live in so that I could get Arianna here but the mayor told me AFTER I had accepted the job of being a guiding light that I had to get to the top of a career to prove to people that an attempt was being made on the rebuilding efforts. So my future with Arianna has to be put on hold for now. I hope she just understands what I have done.

I finally built my house, its not much but its a roof over my head.

It has everything I need for now but I seriously hope I don't have to bring my Arianna here or raise a family in it.

I called Arianna as soon as I could get the phone working and tried to explain to her exactly what had happened but as there is barely any video footage its hard for her to understand the magnitude of what has happened.

Arianna wanted to move over right away to be with me which was very sweet of her but I had to talk her out of it and explain what the mayor had done. She was less than happy with what the mayor had done but has told me she will stick with me no matter what which made me very happy as I must confess I was a little worried that it would all be to much for her to cope with.

I am off to my first night at work as an intern. lets hope that all goes well and I get promoted through the ranks very quickly. I am very nervous as the medical field here varies a fair bit from the way we practice medicine back home. Speaking of which I called my mum and even though she worries for me she is proud of me for stepping up to the plate and trying to be a guiding light to all the people who lost so much in the devastation

Go Gwalyon! You can dot it!

I enjoyed how you used the in game conversation bubbles to aid in the story telling.
